We use the "You are Special Today" plate for the usual occassions (birthday, anniversary, etc...) but also for all those days (big and small) in our children's life when they have achieved something, struggled with a problem, done a particularly good deed or just "need a hug". It's become a visible symbol of our special bond as family where we celebrate all aspects of life.
