As a family child care provider in my home, our red plate has been shared with those children whom I care for, those who I love as my own, during their early years in my care. Their birthdays are acknowledged, the births of siblings, loss of first tooth, riding a 2-wheeler, etc. just as they were for my (now) teens. The Red Plate has become such a tradition in my preschool care program that, as a parting gift to my most recent children, moving on to public school, each was given their own Red Plate to introduce in their immediate families and carry into the future.
